Hello Parents and Members of the NWT North Stars!

The NWT North Stars have plans to travel this year for Spring Hockey and play in AAA level tournaments in various locations in Western Canada. This will be our second season of spring hockey following up our successful travel to Kelowna for the Kelowna Heat AAA Spring Tournament in 2014.

In previous weeks the NWT North Star coaches’ have had meetings to discuss the number of families interested in spring travel with the NWT North Stars and a few decisions were made by the coaches.

We have 4 travel teams this year, based on interest from our NS families: 2002; 2003; 2005; and 2007.

2002 – Coach – Todd Stewart; Manager – Sharon Low: Kelowna Heat Blast tournament May 1-3, 2015

The coaches have been completing evaluations to date but will have individual set times in the near future for final evaluations. Due to our uniqueness and object of including all members in evaluations from across the NWT, we have had to complete evaluations at different times including the Christmas 3 on3 and Yellowknife Minor Hockey Tournaments. The final evaluation dates will be announced soon and will be dates selected to accommodation members in Yellowknife as well as the members from outside Yellowknife.

The coaches from your child’s year will contact you once the team has been selected.

Look forward to notices from the coaches in the near future.

Fundraising Opportunities

In an effort to assist our families with the cost associated with North Stars travel, all bingos in the spring have been allocated to the travel teams, with the bingos later in the year open to all regular members. This gives both groups a chance to earn fundraising credit to use for hockey registration and hockey camps, if they are not on the travel teams.

We have two $25,000 bingos in April that all travel team families are expected to participate in (April 4 and 11th) to help pay for your trips. Emails will come out in March to schedule your shift for these bingos.

Thank you for your support of the NWT North Stars!
